About Animakun

 

  • Junko Higashi — Visual Artist / Painter

    Junko Higashi is a Japanese visual artist and painter based in the Netherlands.

    Inspired by light, shadow, clouds, wind, rain, and the changing seasons, she explores not only visible landscapes but also the feelings and memories they evoke, expressing them as abstract inner landscapes.

    Since moving to the Netherlands in 2015, she has focused on painting while continuing to explore colour, texture, rhythm, and movement through various media, including animation and drawing.

    Junko graduated from Osaka College of Arts in 2000. She began creating animation while studying and has continued her practice for over 20 years. Her animation works have been screened internationally, including in Europe, Asia, and North America.

    She is also involved in Animation Soup, an organisation dedicated to animation screenings and events, where she contributes to programme curation and event organisation.

    東純子は、日本出身のビジュアルアーティスト、画家です。現在オランダを拠点に活動しています。

    自然の中で感じる光や影、雲、風、雨、そして季節の移ろいからインスピレーションを受け、目に見える風景だけではなく、そこから生まれる感覚や記憶を抽象的な心象風景として表現しています。

    2015年にオランダへ移住。絵画を中心に、アニメーション、ドローイングなど様々なメディアを用いて、色、質感、リズム、動きを探求しています。

    2000年に大阪芸術大学附属大阪美術専門学校を卒業。在学中からアニメーション制作を始め、20年以上にわたり制作活動を続けてきました。アニメーション作品は日本国内外で上映され、ヨーロッパ、アジア、北米での上映経験があります。

    また、アニメーションの上映企画運営団体 Animation Soup の活動にも携わり、プログラム企画やイベント運営を行っています。
